Church History
“LEAP OF FAITH” ministries was organized in January 1992, by the inspiration and guidance of the Holy Spirit. This vision was given to Rev. Artis Glass Jr., and with the help, support and anointing in gospel music, Rev. Renee’ Glass was at his side. Leap of Faith held services every 2nd and 4th Sunday at the Atherton Baptist Church, 2627 W. 116th Street, in the city of Hawthorne, CA (Dr. Vernon Mitchell, Pastor).
In October of 1996, Leap of Faith moved and held its services every Sunday at the Proud Bird, 11022 Aviation Blvd, in the grand ballroom and “Leap of Faith” Ministries became “Leap of Faith” Community Baptist Church INC., and the membership leaped to faithful numbers.
In 1997, after a brief pasturage at True Gospel M.B.C., Leap of Faith C.B.C. relocated to the Hacienda Hotel, 525 N. Sepulveda Blvd., in the city of El Segundo, CA in June of 1998.
In September of 1998 Leap of Faith C.B.C. moved to 8960 S. Western Ave., in the city of Los Angeles. “Though we have grown by leaps and bounds, we can rejoice at where He’s brought us from, and we can boast in how good the Lord has been. He has promised to take us step by step by step . . . not all at once . . . but with each step, He promises that it will be a miracle!
In September of 1999, Leap of Faith C.B.C. out grew the Western location and relocated back to the Hacienda Hotel. Then in September of 2001, Leap of Faith C.B.C. relocated to Cimarron Avenue Elementary School, 11559 Cimarron Avenue, in the city of Hawthorne, CA. “There, we will continue to educate, train and develop our human spirit; we will continue to walk in God’s wisdom and His perfect will; we will continue to walk single-mindedly in His wisdom, expecting to know what to do in every situation, and to be on top of every circumstance. We will continue to stand firm and mature in spiritual growth, convinced and fully assured in everything willed by God; we will continue to walk in love, to bless and pray for those who persecute us, and we will walk in forgiveness as we continue giving glory and honor to God.”
Amos 3:7 states: “Surely the sovereign Lord does nothing without revealing His plan to His servants the prophets.”
“God has revealed what He is about to do. That revelation becomes an invitation to join Him. We the members of Leap of Faith have been a part of this God given “vision” in which God spoke to reveal Himself, His purposes, and His ways. We have learned to make improvements in our lives to join God in what He is doing. As we further discover and obey God through His word, God can accomplish His work through us, the Leap of Faith family. Thanks be to God, and all the saints that prayed for us! A special thanks to Greater New Holy Trinity M.B.C. Pastor L.S. Woods and Friendly Will B.C. Pastor C.J. Lister Sr. for opening the doors and allowing us to labor during the week for the past Seven Years. Thank you!”
In August of 2004, we purchased our own property! “God has moved us to Inglewood, CA. at 3502 W. Imperial Hwy., to work in that vineyard, ’for the perfecting of the saints.’ We thank all of the faith-based community for their prayers!”
